UNNYVALE, Calif., Jan 23, 2008 — Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in optical transport, embedded Power Architecture(TM) processing and storage solutions, announced today that Accusys has selected AMCC’s PowerPC 440SP storage processor for their new leadership RAID Controller family (ACS-81000, ACS-82410, ACS-92000, ACS-93000). The AMCC PowerPC 440SP storage processor enables these new Accusys products to deliver unmatched performance, flexibility and the ability to meet demanding customer storage requirements for their RAID applications. With RAID 5 and RAID 6 acceleration engines, 4Gb DDR2-667 memory controller, high bandwidth internal bus structure and multiple high speed I/O interfaces, the AMCC PowerPC 440SP allows Accusys to fully utilize the performance of the 4Gb Fibre Channel and 3Gb SAS connectivity.
The new ACCUSYS RAID controllers feature dual 4Gb FC or 3Gb SAS uplinks support for both SAS and SATA2 disk arrays. They also support numerous advanced storage array features and functions including multiple RAID levels, on-line capacity provisioning, dynamic volume management, and disk health monitoring while delivering high performance and flexibility at a cost-effective price point.
