Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announced that Power Technology Specialist Chris Cooper will present at The Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) on February 17, 2009, at the Wardman Park Marriott in Washington, DC.
Cooper will present “An Alternative to Expensive Point-of-Load Modules” – an introduction to the new Power Module Reference Design (PMRD-0012). Recently released by Avnet — and featuring the National Semiconductor LM3495 Powerwise® buck regulator — the PMRD fills the gap between design efforts for discrete solutions and off-the-shelf modules. The PMRD architecture is specifically designed with flexibility in mind, supporting a wide input and output range. Attendees will learn how the PMRD can help lower design cost and effort, minimize risk, and gain the necessary design flexibility to meet multiple board-level power design requirements.
“Chris’s session offers designers an in-depth look at the new PMRD from Avnet. This reference design from Avnet and National Semiconductor offers design flexibility at a low cost,” said Marc Gsand, vice president of technical marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Designers will benefit from the ability to migrate from expensive power modular designs to low-cost board-level solutions.”
APEC is a four-day conference focusing on the practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business, and featuring professional education seminars, technical and dialog sessions, special presentations, rap sessions, and exhibition.
