The secret to DS series is that there really are no contacts at all. It’s a 3-wire Hall-effect switch with a signal that switches from high to low when the actuator is depressed. No contacts means no electrical wear, and this is the reason that its endurance can surpass previous industry standards by 1000x.

It’s perfect for interface with microprocessors, and with no contacts, it has the additional benefit of immunity to dirt and other contaminants.

The DS1101AA is available through Cherry distributors and is in stock at Allied Electronics. Even in very small quantities, it’s priced at less than $5.00, so it’s an ideal solution for high-performance, cost-sensitive applications.
