December 20, 2006 – Toulon, France and Edison, New Jersey –As of January 1 2007, Christian Baud is appointed managing director of Thales’ computers activities. As the senior corporate officer, Christian.Baud is responsible for overall management of the company and will oversee the company’s heads of engineering, product development, sales, marketing and communications. Christian Baud succeeds Alain Albarello, who was named chief technology officer of Thales’ Commercial Aircraft Solutions.
Prior to joining Thales Computers, Christian.Baud served as managing director of Thales Microelectronics (MESL) in Edinburgh, Scotland. Thales MESL plays a major role in the production of world-class components and subsystems for microwave technology Christian Baud also managed the activities of Thales Antennas in the UK and Thales Microelectronics’ RF business unit. He served as chairman of two Thales subsidiaries, Thales Microwave from 1999 until 2002 and Thales Electronics System Solutions-Scotland from 2002 until 2004 and has held senior management positions within Thales Electronic Devices which engineers and manufactures a wide array of electronic tubes for aerospace, defense and security uses. Christian Baud holds a degree in engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in France.
