Ethernet Alliance Demonstrates Multiple Technologies at Interop Las Vegas 2008

University of South Florida student announced as winner of Ethernet Alliance University Program (EAUP) White Paper Challenge

April 22nd, 2008

Mountain View, CA – April 22, 2008 – More than twenty Ethernet Alliance members will demonstrate select Ethernet technologies at Interop Las Vegas 2008 in booth #1567. The Interop exhibits are open April 29 – May 1 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Technologies to be demonstrated in the Ethernet Alliance booth include: SFP+, Backplane Ethernet, 10GBASE-T and Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Additionally, EAUP white paper challenge winner Francisco Blanquicet of The University of South Florida, will showcase his white paper “PAUSE Power Cycle” in the Ethernet Alliance booth. Mr. Blanquicet’s white paper focuses on PAUSE Power Cycle (PPC), which uses IEEE 802.3™ PAUSE flow control to cycle Ethernet links between ON and OFF states.

“The Ethernet Alliance continues to play a critical supporting role in the 802 Ethernet industry. Interoperability and technology demonstrations such as those being showcased by Ethernet Alliance members at Interop 2008 are an important part of showing technology readiness to the industry,” said Aileen Arcilla, senior analyst, IDC. “These demonstrations will highlight how Ethernet has extended beyond the traditional enterprise network, encouraging 10GE adoption in datacenters and Metro Ethernet networks and power distribution via existing Ethernet architectures.”
