MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—June 16, 2008— Fanfare and Spirent plc (LSE: SPT) today announced a partnership that will integrate Fanfares test automation solutions with Spirents test product line up. The agreement enables customers using both Spirent and Fanfare solutions to seamlessly integrate test assets and automate complex system testing. Fanfare, which delivers innovative testing solutions to network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) and service providers (SPs), and Spirent, a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, made the announcement at NXTcomm in Las Vegas.
“Were pleased to partner with Fanfare and offer our customers a comprehensive, automated solution that combines Fanfares innovative technology with our own market-leading test systems,” said Neil Anderson, vice president of Global Services, Spirent Communications. “By integrating Fanfares test case authoring and device configuration capabilities into our test platforms, customers will greatly reduce time-to-test while increasing test coverage – all from a single GUI.”
As the complexity of devices has increased, so has the market demand for integration between test equipment and test automation software. The partnership outlines plans for Spirents sales force to offer integrated products from both companies, as well as the full suite of Fanfares products, to existing and prospective customers seeking a comprehensive solution for their system testing needs.
System testing involves the orchestration of multi-device, multi-protocol and multi-vendor testing equipment, and has become the standard mode of testing for SPs and NEMs as networks become increasingly complex. The collaboration between SPs and NEMs ensures that new devices work properly with existing network devices before being deployed. This enhances the quality of products and services, reduces time to market, and improves productivity across the entire product development and service development life cycle. Fanfares test automation software, iTest™, orchestrates system testing by executing simultaneous commands to a multitude of different devices in a network to simulate real-world network testing.
“The market for integrated testing solutions has clearly arrived,” said Tom Ryan, Fanfare CEO. “Customers with large-scale deployments have requested more integration between the hardware and software associated with testing complex devices and systems. Our partnership with Spirent addresses this need, and represents the next phase in evolution of the test automation market.”
Fanfares iTest Team is integrated with Spirent TestCenter™ and other test systems. Fanfare and Spirent will showcase their integrated solution in the Spirent booth, #SL2212, at NXTcomm.
