In future, the high-speed Delta robotic systems developed by the Swiss company Sigpack Systems AG (a member of the Bosch Packaging Technology) will work even more effectively, giving a greater competitive edge. One reason for this is that Sigpack Systems has chosen to use an image-processing system supplied by Leutron Vision AG. In this new concept the image processing system is no longer an integral part of the robotic controller but is based on Leutron Vision’s embedded vision PC (LVmPC) and its PicSight digital GigaBit-Ethernet cameras. This advanced technology solution enables highly flexible system configurations to be tailored to specific requirements and to be combined with high performance computing and extremely short cycle times.
“We decided for GigaBit-Ethernet (GigE) as the interface for transferring images because of its compatibility with the network technology already in use in the plants, its high flexibility, the future stability of the standard and, above all, because of the maximum possible cable length of 100 metres,” explained Mathias Leumann, CEO of Leutron Vision. This enables us to perform the highly complex image-processing tasks more economically. The modular, multifaceted and extremely flexible camera technology supplied by Leutron Vision enables the optimal solution to be tailor-made for every individual user’s (OEM) requirements, and this promises very significant competitive advantages.
Leutron Vision AG (www.leutron.com), with headquarters in Glattbrugg (Switzerland), is a worldwide supplier of cameras, embedded vision systems, frame grabbers and many other machine vision products of this kind.
