Mercury Computer Systems Is Selected for the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation

Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. — October 26, 2005

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Oct. 26, -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced that it received the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation for its VisageRT™ advanced 3D image and visualization software.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation is presented annually to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. The 2005 Award recognizes Mercury's development of the VisageRT software, which enables accelerated, embedded reconstruction, and visualization of medical image data generated by a variety of diagnostic and interventional imaging tools such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), and digital X-ray.

The new generation of multi-slice and multi-channel medical imaging modalities brings great advantages for physicians in performing heart scans as well as scans of large 3D volumes by drastically increasing the amount of image data that can be acquired within a heartbeat or while patients can hold their breath. However, this also leads to an explosion of the image data acquired for a single study. This challenging problem has been overcome with the development of the VisageRT product family.

VisageRT exploits commercial Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to enable easy and highly accelerated reconstruction and visualization of very large data volumes, leading to faster acquisition times, or allowing the modality vendors to use more advanced reconstruction algorithms to improve image quality.

"Mercury is honored to receive the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation," said Marcelo Lima, vice president of Commercial Imaging and Visualization at Mercury. "It is a significant acknowledgement of the performance we designed into our VisageRT solution, and of the company's overall commitment to product innovation in medical imaging."

The award will be presented at the 2005 Best Practices Awards Banquet today in Phoenix, Arizona.
