Daintree Networks Helps to Bring ZigBee Smart Energy Products to Market
Daintree's Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA) software was used extensively during the recent ZigBee Alliance Smart Energy certification process, culminating in certification of 17 Smart Energy products.
FREMONT, CA — May 19, 2008 — Daintree Networks, Inc. announced today that the latest release of its Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA) software provides full support for ZigBee Smart Energy, including full decodes for the Smart Energy application profile and support for ZigBee PRO Smart Energy Security (Key Establishment).
Daintree's SNA provides the industry's most comprehensive solution for both the development and deployment of IEEE 802.15.4™ and ZigBee® systems. This standards-based tool keeps up-to-date with the latest ZigBee specifications to help ensure compliance and interoperability.
The SNA was used extensively during the recent ZigBee Alliance Smart Energy certification process, culminating in certification of 17 Smart Energy products. These products enable a broad range of services designed to help utility companies worldwide implement systems for managing energy and help consumers improve their own energy efficiency, all with multi-vendor product interoperability.
As the world's first Residential Energy Management System provider, Tendril has been an active participant in the certification process. "Daintree has proven to be an invaluable partner to Tendril in assisting with the development and certification of our Residential Energy Management Platform" said Tendril's President and Chief Operating Officer, Tim Enwall.
Daintree Networks provided vital support to the ZigBee Alliance leading up to this historic event. Zachary Smith, Daintree's Chief Technology Officer, is the editor of the Smart Energy Certification Test Plan, the playbook for the certification process. Bill Wood, Daintree's CEO, chairs the ZigBee Qualification Working Group, which oversees the policy and process behind ZigBee product certification.
Itron has used Daintree's SNA during development of their OpenWay® advanced metering solution, which utilizes ZigBee wireless communications for meter reading and home area networks. Daintree's SNA is part of Itron's Smart Energy HAN test suite for electricity and natural gas metering.
Daintree's analysis solutions also form a cornerstone of the conformance test platforms used to independently verify compliance with the standard by the Alliance's two official test labs, including solutions from Wireless Glue Networks.
Not only does Daintree's SNA provide full support for ZigBee Smart Energy, it also includes an extensive selection of tools for development, testing, deployment and management of ZigBee solutions, including unique visualization that shows network operation visually, full protocol decodes to drill down and get detailed information about every packet, extensive measurements to determine performance and critical metrics, and a commissioning tool that helps to hide the complexity of ZigBee deployment.
