Embedded Computing Design Selects Top Innovators in Embedded Design

QNX Software Systems, Freescale, and MonolithIC 3D Receive Honors for Top Innovative Leaders

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz., June 15, 2012 — OpenSystems Media (OSM), LLC, today announced that Embedded Computing Design magazine has awarded three top innovators in categories for silicon, software, and strategies. The June issue of Embedded Computing Design, the inaugural Special Innovation issue, spotlights the industry's foremost leaders in embedded computing as well as innovative products. The winners from the silicon, software, and strategies categories are featured in an executive Q&A focusing on how embedded computing will advance in the next 5 to 10 years.

The top three innovators in embedded design were selected by Embedded Computing Design’s editors from entries within the embedded design market. Overall, more than 25 entries were assessed for the Top Innovative Leaders. The winning companies were chosen based on innovative approaches or strategies in their business such as a new product, improvement in operations, or an innovative adoption of technology. The Embedded Computing Design Special Innovation issue will be an annual tradition following the innovative leaders and products.

According to Warren Webb, OpenSystems Media, Embedded Computing Design Editorial Director, “Our challenge was to scour the embedded design community to identify the top innovators that shape our industry.” He added, “After careful consideration, we selected a winner in each of the silicon, software, and strategies categories based on creativity, uniqueness, and value to the embedded community.”

The three winners are as follows:

Silicon: Zvi Or-Bach, CEO of MonolithIC 3D for a series of innovations that allow the fabrication of three dimensional semiconductor devices using conventional fabrication equipment.

Software: Sebastien Marineau-Mes, Senior VP at QNX Software Systems for advances in embedded automotive technology, mobile operating systems, and open source development tools.

Strategies: Dr. Kwok Wu, Head of Embedded Software and Systems at Freescale Semiconductor for a series of networking and communications innovations for connecting people and smart devices.

In addition to the recognitions announced, the June issue of Embedded Computing Design includes Top Innovative Products. The issue presents more than 60 nominations for trend-setting products. Embedded Computing Design editors will select the winners. Winners will be featured in the Top Embedded Innovations department of the August Embedded Computing Design, Annual Resource Guide, distributed to more than 40,000 engineering managers and decision makers.
