embedded world 2017: Icon Labs compares hardware and software security for IoT devices

WEST DES MOINES, IA. At 2017 in Nuremburg, Germany, Icon Labs will present on the pros and cons of securing Internet of Things () and devices with hardware versus software solutions.

The session entitled “Hacking & Attacking” (Session 05: II) will take place on Tuesday, March 14th from 4:30 to 5:00 PM and cover security technologies ranging from hardware security elements such as trusted platform modules (TPMs), trusted execution environments (TEEs), and secure elements to software solutions that enable secure communications, authentication, firewalls, secure boot, secure firmware updates, and security management. The presentation will address trends in cyber security, recent hacks, and how the aforementioned technologies can be effectively applied to secure IoT devices, considering tradeoffs and interactions between hardware and software security technologies from a scalable system-level perspective.
