Green Hills Probe Supports Intel(r) Architecture
Major Addition to the Leading Debug Probe Technology
INTEL DEVELOPERS FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, and EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, BOSTON, MA — September 22, 2009 — Green Hills Software, Inc., the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, today announced that it has added support for Intel® architecture to the Green Hills Probe, the fastest and smartest debug probe ever built. The Green Hills Probe supports the latest Intel architecture, including the Intel® Atom™, Intel® Core™2 Duo, and Intel® Core™ i7. Together with the MULTI® integrated development environment (IDE), the Green Hills Probe is a versatile tool for hardware bring-up, software and firmware debugging, and product manufacturing.
“We highly value the strength of our ecosystem to help enable a world of 15 billion intelligent, connected devices we see deployed by 2015,” said Joe Jensen, general manger, Embedded Computing Division, Intel. “Adding the Probe to Green Hills’ portfolio supporting Intel architecture will offer developers additional choice for product development.”
“Green Hills Software is pleased to expand its high-speed probe support to Intel processors,” commented David Kleidermacher, chief technology officer, Green Hills Software. “Software, hardware, and firmware/BIOS developers, across embedded, mobile, desktop, and server segments, are extremely pleased to have a world-class chip-level debugging environment for Intel processors."
New Connector System
The Green Hills Probe for Intel architecture debuts an all-new intelligent connector system. While other probe products inflict short, unshielded, and difficult to change connectors and cables on their users, the Green Hills Probe uses a shielded, microcoaxial, impedance-controlled cable and robust connector system. Tested up to one meter for 100 MHz JTAG operation, the cable lets users operate in flexible configurations, including tight spaces. Changing to a different debug port is as easy as plugging a new adapter onto the cable; the Green Hills Probe instantly recognizes the adapter and configures itself. Confidence LEDs on both sides of the adapter let the user know when the cable is properly connected. No other debug probe can match the Green Hills Probe’s reliability, performance, and ease of use.
About the Green Hills Probe
The Green Hills Probe is the fastest and smartest debug probe ever built. Harnessed through the MULTI integrated development environment and its comprehensive run-control and processor visibility interfaces, the third-generation Green Hills Probe helps developers find and fix bugs faster than ever before. With download rates close to the theoretical maximum for Intel cores, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 High Speed, and a flexible electrical interface, the Green Hills Probe provides fast, reliable debugging and system visibility. The Green Hills Probe uses hand-placed custom logic and a highly optimized software path to attain its unprecedented speed. The Green Hills Probe supports more than one thousand processor variants from over thirty manufacturers. The Green Hills Probe is compliant with RoHS, PSE, and CEC standards.
Built with INTEGRITY
The Green Hills Probe is powered by Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS, the leading high-reliability real-time operating system. The INTEGRITY RTOS’ partitioning architecture and ultra-fast response time make the probe modular, reliable, and easy to use while attaining performance levels that have never before been achieved.
The Green Hills Probe for Intel Architecture is available now, with production quantities in Q4 2009.
