Industrial computer specialist Sight Systems has appointed Dave Barker to the new role of Commercial Director. Barker will spearhead Sight Systems’ aggressive five year plan to grow the business by 30 per cent year-on-year.

Barker joins Sight Systems from Gravatom, one of the UK’s most successful engineering companies, where he was managing director for 15 years before selling the business to French engineering giant ONET Technologies last year. Under his direction, Gravatom consistently bucked the economic trend to record year on year increases in sales and profits.

Aged just 29, Craig Blackman, managing director of Sight Systems, led a management buy-out of the firm two years ago. A subsequent investment in a greater manufacturing capability has enabled the company to develop its turnkey solutions business. Barker’s appointment will see the business step up another gear and take a new direction in strategy.

Craig Blackman said: “With Dave on board, our competition won’t know what’s hit them! We now want to pursue an ambitious strategy to expand the business and exploit new global markets. Dave has a proven track record of achieving outstanding results and Sight Systems wants to harness his innate ability to further strengthen the business’s position in the market.”
