Mentor acquires XS Embedded, improves cross-functional automotive design capabilities
Mentor strengthen's position in automotive ADAS and IVI systems with purchase of reference platform design firm.
Wilsonville, OR. Mentor Graphics announced that it has acquired XS Embedded GmbH (XSe), and automotive system design firm that provides high-quality reference platform to Tier 1 suppliers looking to accelerate start of production. The purchase is intended to improve Mentor’s capabilities in the cross-functional requirements of emerging In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) designs.
“XS Embedded is recognized for its deep automotive domain expertise and unique IP including the AXSB automotive-ready reference board and software modules,” Glenn Perry, General Manager, Mentor Graphics Embedded System Division said of the acquisition. “The hardware design and architecture expertise of XS Embedded, combined with Mentor’s extensive automotive technology suite including Android, Linux®, AUTOSAR, security, and hypervisor solutions, provides greater flexibility while also reducing the time to start of production.”
XSe’s automotive-ready reference platforms accelerate production by optimizing software partitioning, architecture, and design costs. The reference platforms are based on partnerships with semiconductor vendors, such as the AXSB based on the Texas Instruments Jacinto 6 (pictured), and integrate IP that includes XS OPTstack, a flexible and portable software stack.
XSe has more than ten years of experience in the automotive industry, contributing to more than 20 programs over that period. For more information on the company, visit www.xse.de.
