Micrium Named Platinum Partner for Renesas Europe

Company to Also Participate in Renesas’ Upcoming Developer’s Conference as Key Sponsor

WESTON, Fla. and SAN JOSE, Calif., – September 15, 2008 – Micrium, a leading supplier of embedded systems components and tools, and Renesas Technology, have announced that Micrium is the first third party supplier to be recognized as a platinum level partner by Renesas Technology America and Renesas Europe. Each region names no more than 15 companies as platinum level partners, and the level is obtained by invitation only. Micrium was selected based on its recognition as an RTOS vendor in the embedded industry, as well as the individual contributions to the industry made by its CEO, Jean Labrosse.

“Micrium has consistently lead the pack in their support of Renesas MCUs and MPUs, often being an early adopter,” said Ali Sebt, executive vice president for Renesas Technology America. “Micrium and Renesas have recognized the future potential involved in each others technologies. Micrium has committed substantial resources to supporting Renesas both in the US and in Europe. This is a key reason why weve named Micrium as a platinum partner in both regions.”

In recognition of its unique standing with Renesas Technology, Micrium will be also participating as a key sponsor in Renesas Technologys upcoming Developers Conference, which will be held in San Diego, Calif., from October 13-15, 2008. As a part of its sponsorship, Micrium will give away a free copy of its award-winning uC/Probe embedded systems monitoring tool to each registered attendee that is a customer of Renesas.

“Micrium has invested heavily as a company to provide the highest level of third party support in the industry, and being recognized as a platinum partner by two divisions of Renesas demonstrates what Micriums products and support bring to its customers,” said Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. “Obviously, this dual recognition is very significant, and we will continue to support Renesas and its customers at the same levels that allowed us to achieve this honor, as evidenced by our participation in the Developers Conference.”

About Micriums uC/Probe

uC/Probe is embedded software that eliminates the need to stop an application in order to get system feedback, and saves considerable development time by visually allowing users to see the internals of a running embedded application. As a result, developers can ensure that the system is working properly, or immediately identify system instabilities that are visible only when the system is live.

uC/Probe works with compilers, any 8-, 16-, 32- and 64-bit CPUs as well as DSPs, and can be used with any toolchain that can generate an ELF/DWAFF or IEEE695 file, eliminating the need for custom programming or scripting. Data is displayed graphically on a PC running Microsoft Windows, and values can be numeric or shown as gauges, bar graphs, plots, graphs, LEDs, counters or pie charts. uC/Probe does not require users to write code, and can operate with or without a real time operating system (RTOS). The product interfaces with hardware targets via J-Tag, RS-232C, TCP/IP, USB and Renesas emulators through High Performance Workshop (HEW) Target Server for data collection.

About the Renesas Technology Developers Conference

Hosted by the worlds largest MCU supplier, the three-day technology conference gives system designers developing embedded systems special access to the latest advances in microcomputer technology, as well as practical solutions that can apply to speed-up and improve their engineering projects. The event consists of 80 courses on a wide range of hot topics, ranging from robust CAN connectivity for networked embedded systems to direct-drive solutions for TFT LCD panels in consumer electronics products, to motor control methods for home appliances and hybrid vehicles. Content-rich presentations and hands-on laboratory sessions will be led by embedded systems experts from Renesas and technology partners from a large support community of third-party suppliers. About 250-300 attendees are expected to attend the event. Similar events will be hosted in Europe, Japan and Asia in the future.
