PICMG Adds Serial RapidIO to AdvancedTCA
The PICMG 3.0 specification defines the detailed characteristics of AdvancedTCA cards, chassis, and backplanes as well as the protocol for the base interconnect between cards (Ethernet) but leaves the protocols on the extended fabric to other specifications. An add-in card must notify the system manager which fabric it supports before interconnects are enabled onto the backplane. Serial RapidIO is the latest fabric to be mapped onto AdvancedTCA.

ASUSTek and Advantech Announce Strategic Alliance
Under the terms of the strategic alliance agreement, ASUSTek will hold 15% of Advantech's share, one seat on Advantech's Board of Directors, and one supervisor. Advantech will own 1.4% of ASUSTek's shares. ASUSTek will issue new shares in exchange of 10% of Advantech's share after Advantech's capital increase. For the remaining 5%, Advantech will arrange specific current shareholders to make the share exchange with ASUSTek. The swap ratio is set at 1.13 shares of Advantech to 1 share of ASUSTek. The ratio is mainly derived from both companies’ recent stock market prices, with reference to other key performance indicators such as net worth per share, earnings per share, and future business potentials.

GE Fanuc Promotes VITA 56 Mezzanine Standard Working Group

Mercury Computer Systems Reports First Quarter Revenues of $67 Million
First quarter revenues were $66.9 million, an increase of 21.7 percent over the prior year's first quarter, and a record for first quarter revenues. Cash flows from operating activities were $17.8 million in the first quarter. Cash and marketable securities balance for the first quarter was $170.6 million.

Synplicity Announces Record Revenue and Earnings for the Third Quarter 2005
Synplicity, Inc., a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2005. Revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 was $15.9 million, a 13 percent increase from revenue of $14.1 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2004 and a 5 percent sequential increase from revenue of $15.2 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2005.

Xilinx Announces September Quarter Results
Xilinx, Inc. today announced net revenues of $399 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2006, down 2 percent sequentially from the prior quarter and down 1 percent from the same quarter a year ago. Net income was $86 million or $0.24 per diluted share, up 11 percent from $77 million or $0.21 per diluted share in the prior quarter. Net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2006 was down 1 percent from the second quarter of fiscal 2005. A favorable tax court decision during the quarter positively impacted the tax rate and increased earnings by $0.03 per share.

Freescale Semiconductor Reports Third Quarter 2005 Results
Third quarter 2005 results include a $26 million pre-tax gain associated with the sale of the company's timing solutions business and a $10 million write-down of receivables the company determined were impaired due to the bankruptcy of the U.S. subsidiaries of the Delphi Corporation. Excluding the gain on sale and the receivable write-down, sales were $1.46 billion, gross margin was 43.7 percent, and diluted earnings per share were $.35.
