Redux Labs will demonstrate its haptic touch panel technology at Display Week, 2015. The company is appearing on Tuesday and Wednesday in the I-Zone (at booth #16) – a dedicated area on the show floor for best-in-class emerging information display technologies.
Redux Labs is showing their 15-inch demonstrator and launching an Early Developer Support Programme for its SurfaceSensation™ technology – which brings touch displays to life with tactile feedback and audio cues, all configurable under software control.
Sophisticated signal processing algorithms focus desired haptic effects at the touch-points. Different effects can be delivered simultaneously to different fingers, using bending waves rather than bulk movement. This needs only a few actuators, is energy-efficient and scalable. Redux SurfaceSound® technology (using the same actuators) delivers naturalistic wide-frequency-range audio from the display (without micro-speakers and apertures) - providing a versatile and robust overall solution.
For manufacturers, it is possible to build devices for automotive, computing and consumer markets with greater levels of safety, productivity and user satisfaction. New display designs without apertures, bezels and breakage-prone switchgear enable diverse applications in industry, agriculture, healthcare and other markets where robustness, resistance to dust and fluids, and cleanliness are key.
John Kavanagh, Redux Labs CCO, said, “One day soon we’ll look back and wonder how we put up with so many devices that were dead to tactile feedback and offered only feeble, escapee audio.”
