Richardson, TX (Feb. 24, 2010) – The ScanWorks® platform for embedded instruments from ASSET® InterTech (www.asset-intertech.com), the leading supplier of open tools for embedded instrumentation, has been named a finalist in EDN magazine’s annual Innovation Awards program. Glenn Woppman, ASSET’s CEO and president, was named a finalist for Innovator of the Year in the previous year’s competition.

Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the technologies, products and people that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year. This year’s finalists were featured in 30 categories. ScanWorks was named one of the five finalists in the “Design, Debug, and Production Test, Yield Analysis” category. Finalists were selected by the editors of EDN, a leading technical publication serving the semiconductor and electronic design community, based on “demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in technology and/or product development during the past 12 months.”

“Being recognized for innovation by the editors of EDN after the ScanWorks platform was twice named a finalist for “Best in Test 2009” by Test and Measurement World magazine is an amazing honor and quite a distinction,” said Glenn Woppman, president and CEO of ASSET. “Our roadmap for ScanWorks has always been to make it the leading validation and test platform in the industry. It’s gratifying to see it being recognized as such.”

“We received an impressive number of submissions for our 2009 Innovation Awards program, indicating that innovation was alive and well despite the economically challenging year,” said Rick Nelson, EDN editor-in-chief. “Despite our editors’ best efforts to narrow the field, more than 120 products qualified as finalists, and our editors worked diligently to group them into 30 very competitive categories, representing components, integrated circuits, test systems, EDA tools, design and test software, subsystems, and systems. In the Design, Debug, and Production Test, Yield Analysis category, ASSET’s ScanWorks was one of the outstanding submissions our editors chose. And now, it’s up to the readers to determine which product in each category they find most compelling.”

ScanWorks® – The Embedded Instrumentation Platform

ASSET, through its ScanWorks platform, is applying the experience it has gained from two decades as a leading supplier of IEEE 1149.1 boundary-scan (JTAG) test tools to the development of open embedded instrumentation tools. The boundary-scan infrastructure that is embedded into chips and circuit boards is one of several technologies which can form the basis for an embedded instrumentation toolset. In recent years, ASSET has significantly enhanced ScanWorks beyond boundary-scan test with the addition of other embedded instrumentation technologies, including processor-controlled test (PCT) and tools for Intel® IBIST (Interconnect Built-In Self Test), an embedded instrumentation technology that Intel® and other companies are embedding into next-generation chips and chipsets.
