Undo Software Selected as a Gartner Cool Vendor in Application Development 2014
Reversible debugging provider helps Linux and Android developers find bugs in minutes, rather than weeks
Cambridge, UK – Undo Software today announced that is has been selected as one of five “Cool Vendors in Application Development 2014” in a global report published 25 April 2014 by Gartner, Inc.
According to Gartner, the Cool Vendors profiled can help improve the speed, quality and productivity of application development. They offer enhanced review and testing tools and new capabilities to aid in the application development function. Undo provides tools for record-and-replay reversible debugging of Linux and Android software, enabling developers to record their program’s execution and then rewind their code in real-time to find bugs more quickly, saving time and reducing cost. Customers include Mentor Graphics, while ARM has integrated the company’s UndoDB software into its ARM Development Studio.
Undo feels that the Gartner recognition is part of gathering market momentum for the company. In April 2014 it announced a third funding round of $1.25 million, with investors including existing backers within the Cambridge Angels group and new investors, such as Jaan Tallinn, one of the original founders of Skype and Kazaa, and now co-founder of the University of Cambridge-based Centre for the Study of Existential Risk. In January 2014 the company announced plans to expand its workforce by over 30% and moved into new Cambridge offices, which are four times larger than the previous headquarters.
“To be picked by Gartner as one of five Cool Vendors in the global application development space we feel demonstrates both the strength of our technology and the growing market need for reversible debugging,” said Greg Law, CEO and co-founder, Undo Software. “Multiple studies show that 50% or more of development time is spent on debugging – with UndoDB this can be significantly reduced, dramatically improving productivity and time to market.”
