For Immediate Release: February 8, 2008, NextComputing, manufacturers of high-performance, portable computers, was recognized by Inc. Magazine as number 1,975 in the prestigious Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest growing private companies in America. The magazine has been featuring the top 500 American companies since 1982, and for the first time in 2007, expanded the list to 5,000. Inc. Magazine also breaks down success by industry category, ranking NextComputing as number 39 in the countrys top companies in computers & electronics, an impressive standing for the New Hampshire based company.

NextComputing was noted for innovation in the field of portable and ruggedized computers, providing mobile, high-performance solutions in key vertical industries; broadcast media, military/intelligence, medical imaging, test/measurement, and oil/gas. Most notably mentioned in the Inc. 5000 profile is the companys invention of a new category of computer, the “flextop.” Defined as “a personal supercomputer, characterized by portability and open standards architecture, which is distinctively flexible and expandable,” the flextop was introduced in November 2005, and has since grown ever more powerful and adaptable, while maintaining its sleek design in a chassis no bigger than a briefcase. The flextop category was intended to fill a much needed gap between the performance limitations of a laptop, and the size and mobility limitations of a desktop workstation. Providing all the performance features of high end desktops, NextComputings flextop computers have grown in popularity among those looking for portability without compromising functionality.

Starting with just one flextop computer, aptly named the NextDimension, the company now has an entire family of flextop computers, from the screenless NextDimension Pro, to the expanded version with high definition display, the NextDimension Evo HD. Thousands of configuration options secure the flextops position as the most flexible, highest performing portable line of computers available.

NextComputing was founded in 1999 by President and CTO, Bob Labadini, with the intention of providing portability and high-performance to key vertical industries requiring more than your average laptop. The invention of the flextop was, in a sense, the dream come to fruition. “Our expansive line of NextDimension flextop computers reinforces our mission statement to provide ever-improving functionality and flexibility in a small, portable, modular workstation and server design. The system is an open standards solution in a small form-factor that is unprecedented,” explains Bob Labadini.

The company sees the acknowledgement from Inc. Magazine as an affirmation that the flextop message is indeed gaining acceptance, and also as a challenge to continue to innovate and stay one step ahead of the game in the high-performance, portable computing market.
