July 26, 2007, Den Bosch, Netherland ~ if winning major international awards is a measure of excellence then PQI’s Card Drive U510 series definitely fits the description having won two out of three major world class awards. PQI’s multi- award winning Card Drive U510 series UFD (USB Flash Drive) have won the 2007 IDEA International Design Excellence Awards. With an entry of 1691 items from 30 countries around the world, only 80 designs are awarded including 20 gold, 19 silver and 42 bronze award winners. This year was a record high for the number of participants but the least in the number of award winners (refer to table 1) indicating a high benchmark from judges this year. Entering the event as a dark horse, PQI was able to come away with a Bronze award. Having won two out of three world class design awards, PQI’s Card Drive series is definitely a class above all other UFDs.
The IDEA International Design Excellence Awards is held in cooperation with Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Business Week. With 27 years of history, this annual event has been branded at the same elite class as the Oscars of world industrial design, Germany’s IF Award. Idea’s aim is to advance the quality and positive impact of the design for the industrial design profession.
Utilizing its unique design, U510 breaks away from traditional technology gadget designs and allows itself for customization. Collaboration with renown artist, Chu Teh-Chun, the first Chinese graduate from the Academie des Beaux-Arts de’l'Institute de France, compositions are customized onto U510.
