Tail-f Systems Selected to Join Wind River Ecosystem for Networking and Telecom Equipment Providers

Industry innovators team-up to accelerate customer product deployment

May 5th, 2009

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — May 5, 2009 — Tail-f Systems, the leading developer of on-device configuration management for networking equipment and software providers, today announced it has been selected to join the Wind River Partner Validation Program aimed at networking and telecom equipment providers. As part of this program, Tail-f’s ConfD software will be integrated and validated with Wind River’s industry-leading operating systems and will allow customers to rapidly build carrier-grade configuration management systems with a unified management interface.

“With the rapid deployment of technologies like 3G and 4G networks, Long Term Evolution (LTE), WiMax, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and other next-generation network technologies, network equipment suppliers must meet increasingly aggressive requirements and reduce costs and time-to-market in order to stay competitive,” said Hakan Millroth, CEO, Tail-F Systems. “This pre-integrated and validated configuration management framework from Tail-f and Wind River enables our customers to do just that.”

ConfD provides a single, unified management interface for all applications and meets the requirements of carrier-grade networking products. Within ConfD, northbound management interfaces (NETCONF, Web UI, CLI, and SNMP) are automatically rendered from a single data model. An integrated datastore provides the performance, replication, and clustering capabilities expected of a highly scalable and continuously available system. All ConfD management interfaces support transaction management to ensure consistent configuration changes and minimize disruption errors.

“We have carefully selected Tail-f to participate in our partner validation program based on its impressive technology and innovative implementation of open standards,” said Mike Langlois, general manager, Networking and Telecom Industry, Wind River. “Integrating Tail-f’s ConfD product with Wind River’s industry-leading operating systems will enable our customers to focus their development resources on critical, differentiating features that provide a competitive advantage.”
