Irvine, CA February 13, 2009 – Teridian Semiconductor Corporation today announced expansion of its popular 73S80xx family of smartcard interface products, with NDS certification of the first 3.3V interface product in the market, the 73S8023C, along with the introduction and commencement of volume shipments of the NDS certified 73S8014RN device. “Teridian is demonstrating its on-going commitment to the very competitive smartcard reader IC market, by introducing world class quality products based upon familiar industry standard interfaces for applications that require the confidence of NDS certification along with an attractive feature set and cost,” said Keith Chu, director of marketing for Teridian.
73s8014rn
The 73S8014RN is a single smart card (ICC) interface circuit, firmware compatible with 8024-type devices for configurations where only asynchronous cards must be supported. The 73S8014RN is optimized to match typical Set-Top-Box / A/V Conditional Access applications. Derived from the 73S8024RN industry-standard electrical interface, the 73S8014RN interfaces with the host processor through the same bus (digital I/Os) as the 73S8024RN, which makes it compatible with any other 8024-type IC’s. The devices are also fully compliant with ISO 7816-3, EMV 4.0 and NDS specifications.
73s8023c
In addition to the 73S8014, Teridian’s 73S8023C has also received certification and is the world’s first 3.3V only NDS certified smartcard interface. The 73S8023C requires only a single 2.7V to 3.6V power supply, and features a high-efficiency embedded DC-DC converter. Additionally, a Power Down digital input that can place the 73S8023C into a very low-power mode, makes the IC very suitable for low-power applications; such as cell-phones, PDAs, payphones, hand-held battery-powered POS terminals.
Pricing and Availability
The 73S8014RN and 73S8023C solutions are currently shipping in volume production; pricing, is available upon request. Data sheets, samples and development boards are available.
