1This paper introduces the video encode acceleration capability of the Intel® Atom™ Processor E6xx System-on-Chip. In this paper, necessary detail on hardware capability is presented along with information on the software stack including operating system, graphics drivers, middleware and applications required to demonstrate hardware accelerated video encode.

The Intel Atom processor E6xx is capable of providing high compression, high quality, real time video encode functionality along with great user experience when other applications are in use on the device. Software-based video encoding on the other hand consumes more power, hogs host CPU bandwidth, doesn’t retain quality of video and takes longer time to encode a HD video on the same device.
