Ultra small SBC fits low-power applications

As each new embedded project comes along, designers are expected to not only package all of the new functionality into a smaller physical size but also to increase performance and power efficiency. With these expectations in mind, Kontron recently announced a new 2.5-inch, low-power Pico-ITX™ single board computer (SBC) based on the 500 MHz AMD Geode™ LX800 processor. The KTLX800/pITX features long-term availability, an average power consumption of only 5 – 7 W, and targets the needs of both industrial automation and test and measurement applications. The 100 x 72 mm Pico-ITX™ form factor module comes with up to 1 GB of DDR RAM system memory plus one 10/100 Mbit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, two serial RS232 serial connectors, and 16 configurable general purpose IOs. Display interfaces include VGA and LVDS with JILI30 plus backlight support while a SATA II port and an on-board MicroSD socket connect to data storage. The SBC KTLX800/pITX supports Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Linux, and is available for immediate delivery.
