T&VS Win 'Innovate UK' Grant to Develop Advanced Verification Methods for Complex Cyber Physical Systems
08 March – Bristol, UK. Test and Verification Solutions (T&VS), a leader in software test and hardware verification solutions, today announced that it has won a grant from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, to develop advanced hardware verification and validation (V&V) techniques that can cope with the increasing size and complexity of Cyber Physical Systems (CPS).
Autonomous vehicles, smart cardiac devices, intelligent power grids, Industry 4.0 manufacturing and the Internet of Things (IoT) are all examples of the new breed of smart cyber physical systems that combine communications and sensory input with machine based decision making to control physical systems. Tremendous progress has been made in advancing CPS technology over the last five years but the development of new methods in V&V needs to be accelerated to keep pace with these advances.
mike-bartley-ress-image“Smart cyber physical systems are driving innovation in many industries but their size and complexity is stretching our traditional verification and validation methods.” said Dr Mike Bartley, CEO and founder of T&VS. “Through this early-stage innovation program we expect to create new V&V methods that will help ensure that the next generation of cyber physical systems will meet their requirements and remain dependable, safe and secure, whatever their size and complexity.”
The T&VS project is part of the Innovate UK and Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) competition for funding that is investing up to £580,000 into ‘Software Verification & Validation for Complex Systems’. The funding is aimed at stimulating innovation throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) while focusing on the verification and validation (V&V) of two classes of complex systems: Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and systems with emergent behaviours.
