Lauterbach Announces Debug Support for Cavium High End Microprocessor
|Debug Support for Cavium Octeon III|
Leading debug tool company, Lauterbach has announced support for the new state-of-the art OCTEON® III multicore processors, from Cavium.
The OCTEON III CN7XXX family of Multi-Core MIPS64 Processors provides up to 120GHz of 64 bit processing and targets high-performance, high-throughput, service-rich applications for Cloud, Secure Datacenter, Wireless Infrastructure, Enterprise and Storage equipment.
"Lauterbach has worked closely with Cavium for many years in support of its network architectures and cores. With TRACE32, developers who are creating products around OCTEON′s MIPS cores have access to a full range of debug functionality from bootstrap code, interrupt routines, drivers to application software," said Norbert Weiss, International Sales and Marketing Manager at Lauterbach. "We look forward to supporting OCTEON III family”.
Lauterbach′s TRACE32 debugger GUI, along with its accompanying features, provides development engineers with trusted tools, reducing product development time and cost. The TRACE32 PowerView software includes a very efficient and user-friendly HLL debugger for C and C++ and awareness for Linux RTOS, enabling seamless debug from kernel to processes and threads. The tools can be connected to either Windows or Linux hosts via USB or Ethernet 10/100/1000. Lauterbach tools help increase developer efficiency and reduce time to market. In addition to the TRACE32 product line, Lauterbach provides world-class embedded developer technical support. Existing Lauterbach customers can take advantage of TRACE32′s modular design to inexpensively convert their existing TRACE32 debuggers to support the OCTEON III family.
German based Lauterbach had a turnover in excess of $90 million worldwide during 2011 and has seen its customer base grow year on year. Recognised for both engineering excellence and exceptional technical support, Lauterbach tools have become a favourite with many hi-tech engineers. Lauterbach tools support more than 3500 microprocessors and all known ARM Cores, covering products from over 75 silicon companies. The quality and capability of these tools enables engineering teams to develop robust code whilst minimising development time lost to debugging.
"Lauterbach continues to be a key partner for our OCTEON processors. We welcome Lauterbach′s active support for our next generation, market-leading OCTEON III product line," said Tasha Castañeda, Senior Strategic Alliance Manager at Cavium. "With its world-wide sales and support infrastructure and precise engineering, Lauterbach will provide compelling hardware and software debug tools for OCTEON III customers."
The OCTEON III family integrates 1 to 48 MIPS64 cores, at up to 2.5GHz, providing up to 120GHz of industry-leading 64 bit compute power per chip. Multiple chips can be combined into a single logical high-performance processor using Cavium′s innovative new chip interconnect architecture. All OCTEON III processors also incorporate new dedicated hardware engines to speed search, protocol parsing and traffic management as well as enhanced cryptography, compression and deep packet inspection engines.
