Micrium Extends Support to Luminary Micro's New USB-Enabled Stellaris Microcontrollers
uC/OS-II, uC/USB and uC/Probe demos available for new Stellaris evaluation kits
Micrium, a leading provider of high quality embedded software components, today announced that it has successfully ported its uC/OS-IITM and uC/USBTM embedded system components to Luminary Micros new Stellaris® LM3S3000 and LM3S5000 series microcontrollers. The extensions to the Stellaris family most notably provide increased connectivity options with USB 2.0 full speed Host, Device, and On-The-Go capability and enhanced motion control capabilities with up to two additional motion-control pulse width modulation (PWM) outputs (for a total of eight).
Micriums uC/ProbeTM embedded systems monitoring tool also supports the new Luminary Micro platform, giving design engineers insight into the internals of a running embedded system in real time.

Micriums uC/OS-II is a fully-featured real time operating system (RTOS) designed specifically to address the requirements of embedded systems. The new LM3S3000 and LM3S5000 series Stellaris products announced today bring USB 2.0 full speed (12 Mbps) compliant OTG/Host/Device, enhancements to the Stellaris familys motion control capabilities, in addition to providing smaller package options. The LM3S5000 series adds up to two controller area network (CAN) MACs. The new microcontrollers feature a 32-channel direct memory access (DMA) controller, a boot read-only memory (ROM) preloaded with the Stellaris Peripheral Driver Library and BootLoader and improved general purpose input/output (GPIO) drive strength. These new elements build on the existing Stellaris platform, which is built on an ARM Cortex-M3 core offering 50 megahertz, and 62.5 MIPS performance. The Stellaris family offers significant on-chip memory, advanced serial communications options, intelligent system integration, precision analog capability, and meticulous motion control advantages.
